1. Color Tabs

Working on multiple Autodesk Revit models, linked central files, or family documents simultaneously often leads to a cluttered tab bar with dozens of open views. Color Tabs dynamically groups and colors view tabs by project title, giving you instant visual orientation.

1.1. Color Views by Project

Automatic Grouping by Document: Every open Revit project or family document is automatically assigned a distinctive color. All views, floor plans, sections, and 3D views belonging to the same project share that identical color identifier, allowing you to instantly distinguish between main models and linked or family files.
  • Generate Project Tabs: Toggle project tab bars to quickly switch between open projects or close all views belonging to a specific document in one action.
  • Dynamic Live Updates: Tabs are updated in the background as you open, close, or switch between view windows without interrupting your modeling workflow.

1.2. 7-Color Palette & Tab Title Colors

Customize the visual style of your tabs to match your personal drafting preferences or office standards:

  • 7-Color Palette: Click any of the 7 color swatches in the Settings dialog to pick custom tones (pastel, soft, or vibrant) using an integrated color picker.
  • Tab Title Color: Customize the foreground text color of the tab titles to ensure optimal contrast and readability against your chosen background colors.

1.3. Tab Height & Font Size

Take full control over tab dimensions for enhanced ergonomics, especially on 2K, 4K, or touch-screen monitors:

  • Tab Height: Adjust the tab height slider continuously between 15px and 40px to create compact slim tabs or prominent, easy-to-click tabs.
  • Font Size: Scale the tab label text size from 10pt to 20pt so long view names remain effortlessly legible at a glance.

1.4. Highlight Active Tab

Never lose track of which view is currently active when multiple windows are tiled or docked.

  • Active Tab Switch: Toggle “Highlight Active Tab” to apply a distinctive background and title font color exclusively to the active view tab.
  • Custom Background & Title: Pick independent active colors (e.g. bold blue or bright amber) so the working tab stands out from background tabs.
Performance Tip: The active tab listener runs a lightweight background hook. On low-spec workstations, keeping active tab highlighting turned off can save rendering cycles.

1.5. Menu Tab Panel (Ribbon Tabs)

Bring color customization directly to Revit’s top Ribbon menus! In addition to view tabs, you can apply custom color themes across Revit’s main ribbon tabs (Architecture, Structure, Steel, MEP, Collaborate, MLabs, etc.).

  • All Menu Tabs vs. Selective Tabs: Choose whether to color all ribbon menus or click Select Tabs to highlight only specific discipline tabs for quick access.
  • Unified Design: Ribbon tabs seamlessly adopt the active color scheme and text colors configured in the Color Tabs window.
  • Instant Reset: Use the Reset to Default button at any time to restore Autodesk Revit’s default UI styling.

2. Family Browser

When running as a standalone utility, the plugin includes the complete Family Browser suite to streamline how you find, inspect, and load Revit families.

2.1. Folder Browser (Drag & Drop)

Direct Disk & Network Folder Navigation: Open the dockable Folder Browser panel to browse your company library folders directly on disk. Preview high-resolution 3D thumbnails and drag & drop .rfa family files straight into your active view without manually navigating standard Windows file open dialogs.
  • Instant Live Search: Quickly find families by keyword across deep nested directory trees.
  • File Management: Rename or inspect family files directly within the dockable panel.

2.2. Internal Family Browser

Manage all family components currently loaded into your active project through a unified dockable interface.

  • Batch Rename & Duplicate: Rename family types in bulk or duplicate configurations instantly.
  • Edit in Family Editor: Right-click any component to open it immediately inside the Revit Family Editor.
  • Category Filtering: Filter project components by category (Doors, Windows, MEP Equipment, Furniture) to audit loaded elements easily.
